Introduction

These are the inner workings and thoughts of a young man's life. Problems, goals, observations, opinions, triumphs...these will all be portrayed as they are seen through my eyes. As these entries grow in numbers, I hope you all enjoy and take something away from them. Whether you take away something positive or something negative, I hope these words will affect your life in someway.

Finding Beauty in All Things

Beauty is always in the eye of the beholder.  What is beautiful to some will be hideous to others...but why?

You choose what you want to see.  Society has instilled a sense of what we think should be beautiful and what should be ugly.  Magazines, television, movies, etc. all give us a clear definition of what is beautiful.  What do you think?

Do people change their opinions on beauty to feel accepted in society?  Yes.  despite what you think, you do.

Have you ever looked at a picture and thought to yourself "wow, that is amazing" only to have all of your friends look at it with disgust?  How many of you take the opportunity to express your opinion?  I guarantee you that many of you think that it is amazing...but you are all listening to the one friend that is vocalizing his opinion and you are all afraid that everyone else feels the same...so you remain silent.  Why?

Is it beneficial to stay silent?  Do you gain anything?  Is it wrong to be an individual and share your own opinions?

Dating is the biggest topic in the debate of what 'beautiful' is.  In what way is it fair to give women and men the idea that they have to fit a given description to feel beautiful?  Why can't they be happy with who they are?  Why is that wrong?  You will always run across people that think that you are unattractive...but who cares?  Will you ever see that person again?  Will you ever be more than just an acquaintance with that person?  More often than not, no.  So why do you care?
There will always be those that see your beauty.  Despite what you think, someone will find you truly beautiful.  The reason for this is that beauty is far more than appearance.  Beauty is confidence, grace, personality, beliefs, morals, actions, language, dignity, and any other aspect that truly defines who you are.

I often compare this belief to supermodels.  I will always feel that the Victoria Secret Angels are beautiful...but then I realize that people always complain with how vain they are...how much they complain...how they always have the 'I am a princess' complex.  At that point, they went from supermodel hot to lady on the street corner scary.  Just because I found them attractive on the outside didn't mean that I found them beautiful.

Everyone has the traits necessary to be truly beautiful.  Even if those traits are different from all of your friends, they are still beautiful.  It is all in the eye of the beholder.  The trick to making others see this, however, lays with confidence.

No one will ever see you as beautiful if you do not see that beauty to begin with.  Why would someone take the time to express their love and appreciation for you and your 'beauty' if you will never see it in yourself?  Confidence in yourself is the primary ingredient to being 'beautiful'...everything else is just flare to spice up the main entree...to be an individual.

With that said...find the beauty in everything.  I promise that you will view life differently.  It is not much different than finding the positive in all things...but the difference is in what you think of yourself.  You should always view yourself as beautiful.  After all, God made us all in his image...do you truly think that he would make you 'ugly'?
