Introduction

These are the inner workings and thoughts of a young man's life. Problems, goals, observations, opinions, triumphs...these will all be portrayed as they are seen through my eyes. As these entries grow in numbers, I hope you all enjoy and take something away from them. Whether you take away something positive or something negative, I hope these words will affect your life in someway.

The Ultimate Friend (a different kind of friend part 3)

My final entry concerning the topic of a different kind of friend...

This entry will not be a long entry.  I have decided to state my findings and explain how...then I have decided that this will be a topic that everyone can think about on their own.

I have stated that parents often fit under the category of being a different kind of friend...they will always be there.  They will tell you the bitter truth when you are looking for a sweet answer.  They will pick you up when you fall to the cold, hard ground.  They will stick by you even when you hate them...they will support you even when you fail...and they will celebrate you when you eventually succeed.  They have the hardest job...the hardest role that a friend can be...................on earth.

On earth changes the entire spectrum of who a friend really is.  How do most people view God?  When somebody prays for guidance they get an answer that makes them angry.  As a result they stop praying and turn their back on God.  When they fall, however, God is always there to pick them up.  No matter how many times you turn your back on Him He will pick you up.  No matter how much you hate Him He will love you.  He will celebrate with you when you succeed.  He will tell you the truth to help you see reality as it should be seen.  He will stand by you and support you when you fail...

God is the ultimate friend.  Being a great friend for someone else is rewarding.  Understanding that those that really influenced your life are most likely your parent's and people that you never considered friends is humbling.  Realizing that you are your own friend and that befriending yourself is the key to success is essential...the final piece to the puzzle...the greatest friend of all, however, is the one person everyone always forgets about - God.

When you befriend God and embrace his friendship you finish the wheel of friendship...you find happiness.  You will have taken the long journey of being a friend to others, appreciating the friends that helped you, seeing yourself as you should be seen and realizing that this is all possible because God loves you enough to not only be taken for granted but to give his only son to ensure our happiness.  If that isn't love I don't know what is.

Ponder this if you want.  You can take it or leave it.  This is what I believe and I will stand by it until I die.

  1. Good series Trent! I never really thought about befriending myself in that respect. It's really something to think about. I'm also glad you could share your testimony as well.
